I went down to the shop today because I've been gassing for a Trad and they didn't have any out. The website, however, said they had one in stock, so the salesperson went in the back and brought out a new box, still sealed. We popped it open and it was love at first sight. After not too long of an evaluation, I knew it was coming home with me, so I traded in the SG and Gretsch and here it is. I have a set of Creamtone plastics I may try on it, as well as some gold reflectors, but so far, it looks beautiful just like this. I really like the top. I liked the 57s I had in my Epi Tribute Plus, but I also have a set of Seth Lovers and a Tone Man '50s harness sitting around that I never used in case I want to swap things out. Anyway, enough of the chatter, here are a few quick cell phone shots:

Oh my, the grain on that is awesome! Congrats! By the way, if you don't find a use for the gold reflectors I'll buy them off you if they are the ones with the silver inserts. They would be great replacements for the speed knobs on my Trad.

Daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaamn!!! That's hot! HNGD to you! Thanks! Holy shiiiiiiiiiit!!!!!!!!! That is sweeeeeeeeet. Congrats man, that is a beautiful guitar. Let us know what you think after you put a few miles on it. Well, so far I am entranced. I played it through the Traynor TGL1 last night and I'm loving the sounds I'm getting, so far. I'll likely do some more fiddling with the amp and I still have to dial in pickup and pole piece height. It's tough because I really can't turn things up when my wife is around, plus the little guy was asleep. I ended up plugging into Amplitube to continue playing once she'd had enough I just love those cases as well. Me too. The brown case with pink interior is sweet. My J-45 True Vintage has the brown/pink combo, as well. The GAS is strong in this one Obi-Wan. Indeed. Although I think it's going to be in remission for quite some time after this. I am going to pick up a wide, padded strap for it, because I wear a strap even while sitting and the regular 2-inch woven strap I used on my SG is not going to work for the LP. I think I might get a plain trussrod cover and some gold tophats for a 59ish look. I like the reflectors quite well, but they are a bit flashy and the top is the real star of this show. The streaks and the grain are awesome.

Check the Godin store for straps. They are great quality leather straps and can be had for stupidly low prices.

I have the one at the right of the top row here: store.godinguitars.com/en/68-godinMine was $28 when I ordered it. You can order directly from them or get their straps through L&M (with a little added on so that L&M can make some profit). I think they might now have separate listings for each of their brands rather than one store for all of their stuff but you can search around to figure that out. I might order the one with the metal grommets for my Trad. I use Grolsch washers as strap locks but, because the Gibson case is so tight, I have to remove the strap each time the guitar is put away and that can't help but to stretch the button holes in the strap. I might grab Ernie Ball strap locks for both guitars and, when I do, I will get the new strap for the Trad and will transfer my current one to my Epi LPC. The leather L&M strap that I currently have for the Epi can then just sit around as a spare.

If I have to take it off and roll it up and put it in the cutout or something, no big deal and I used to do that with my Epi T+, too. I have a wide padded strap on my Tele (it's a bit heavy with the ash body) and it works great. L&M downtown has a decent selection of straps and Gibson parts, so I might check out the gold tophats and the plain TRC while I'm there. Plus, I'm hanging out with my boy tonight because the girls are at dance and he loves going to "the guitar store".

Ok, I've added the gold top hats, pointers and the Creamtone pick guard, as well as the blank truss rod cover. I like it. I will probably do the pickup rings at the first string change. I need to get my toolkit back from my brother to install the strap locks. He's had it "borrowed" for a couple of months now. As I said across the road, that is a real beauty, Congrats

WOW!!!!!!!! That thing is BEAUTIFUL!!!! Mozzel toff, amigo!! It's making me really REALLY miss my 08 Std! I won't be home for another 5 wks. I'm really tempted to go with a set of reflectors as well, probably silver. Maybe just two for the bridge controls. I kinda dig that mixed look. Where did you get the blank truss rod cover? How much was it?? I'm thinking about one for mine, too. Bro, you did good. Real good.

They look good in the photos, but in person they are a touch blingy with the chrome pup covers and bridge/tp combo. I'll probably swap them a couple more times before I finally make up my mind. The truss rod cover was ~$11 Canuck bucks at Long & McQuade here in Toronto.

What's the weight on that geeter?

What's the weight on that geeter? I'll have to check on a scale. I do know it's heavy as fuck compared to the SG I traded in on it, but not so heavy as to be uncomfortable now that I got a padded strap for it.

Somewhere around 9lb is about as close as I can get with the scales in my house.

I don't find it too heavy, but I play sitting down most of the time, so that helps. My Tele is a heavier one, too, so I'm used to it on that front. On the Tele, I've got the 3" strap, but I only went for a 2" one on the LP because the fat one doesn't fit in the damn case. That's one benefit of the rectangular tweed case I got for the Tele. I like to fit the strap in the case. If this one ends up not doing the job, I can always use the extra wide one.

I used an actual belt as a strap for many years. It was given to me at a gig I played by a member of another band that was playing the same gig. I was playing an explorer at the time and he heard me bitching about my strap after we were done our set. He gave it to me telling me it was just to long for him and to bulky. It was roughly 3in wide along enough to accommodate the jolly green giant. It had this huge silver buckle that I adjusted length. I put strap locks on it and used it for the next 20 years, lost it in a house fire. Of all the music stuff I lost in that fire that loss hurt the most.
