JUst as a matter of interest, here's a guitar advertised on Facebook Marketplace. I've seen Epiphone attempts to copy Strats. It appears that Fender's done a bit of the same game with this SG clone.

Apparently it was more a copy of a DeArmond S-73, when Fender owned Guild Attachments:

You might be right, John. I've never seen that model of Guild before, but when I see both guitars, I immediately think SG.

I have seen that Guild before- it is really peculiar to see a Squier copying a Guild (which does look a lot like an SG)

It is definitely taking after the Guild. And that's what I thought first--and then remembered that Fender used to own Guild.

I have seen that Guild before- it is really peculiar to see a Squier copying a Guild (which does look a lot like an SG) Don't forget. At the time, Fender had recently taken over Guild, who imported the Dearmond range.

At the time, Fender had recently taken over Guild, who imported the Dearmond range. Yeah it makes sense- it is usually Squier being the entry level for Fender and DeArmond the entry level for Guild. No Squier modeling after guild is weird to see!

Considering the stink that Fender and Gibson made over other brands copying and cloning their designs, it seems a bit hypocritical for Squier, controlled by Fender, to be producing a copy of a Guild.
