Today is the anniversary of the the last gig that we played before Covid. I haven’t seen my band mates for a year now. I’d like to just meet with them over a coffee or something but a couple of them are completely paranoid.as they either have underlying issues or are looking after an elderly parent.

Maybe you could meet up with them outside? We've done that quite a few times

Maybe when it gets milder I built one of those stone firepits in my backyard for covid entertaining. That is always popular, but yeah, it is covered in snow!

I've got a gas fire table on my patio that is fine for cool spring and fall evenings but won't do much when the temps are in the 30s or 40s. Besides, all my patio furniture is packed up in my garden shed and usually doesn't come out till April.

I spent a good chunk of the summer & early fall meeting people outside--but not so much recently.
Hopefully we have an early spring, long summer & a late mild fall.
they limit size here for outside meetings, but hopefully that expands.

Our neighbours just yesterday did a "driveway hang" where they pulled chairs on the driveway and the daughter had friends over

I've stood on people's driveways while they stood in their garages.
Mostly if I am delivering stuff to them.

They are saying it could go up to mid 50for this coming weekend- that might make it possible for us to use the firebowl if enough snow melts off prior

Maybe it is the vaccine news and maybe it is something else, but I'm detecting a change recently in bookings. This past week alone we added 3 gigs to the calendar, including one that is live at a venue. We haven't played a live on-site concert since November. Several places that we regularly play 2 or 3 times per year have reached out asking if we'll play outside- heck yeah!
Finally some signs of life?

Part of me wants to find a good size garage, set up with 3 or 4 other guys spaced out & play a neighbourhood concert. Whether they want to listen or not...

In lockdown 1.0 we were doing our virtual concerts on the back patio and when we'd finish songs we'd hear people cheering from around the neighborhood. I never really liked doing it outside however because I was always paranoid that someone would turn on their lawnmower in the middle of a song and wreck the program

A drummer friend of mine has set up a rehearsal studio in his garage and has been begging me and my bass player to go over to jam with him. I’m all for it as I know that the 3 of us would be separated by at least 6 feet and I know that he and I both have to be extra careful as he has COPD and cancer and I’ve got diabetes and high BP but the bass players wife is totally paranoid and doesn’t want him to do it although neither one has any underlying condition.

You guys could all wear n95 masks and keep distance. But yeah, you have to be careful

Only have a single garage, but it's packed with stuff we rarely use. Haven't put my vehicles into a garage since we moved back in 2006.

Last summer we used it as a hangout space when people came over

Majority of houses in UK have small garages, either single or double, mainly because land is in short supply

Haven't put my vehicles into a garage since we moved back in 2006. Sounds like my parents at their last place--although that was a two car garage. Their current home is also a two car--but about half of it is stuffed full. To use his tools or do any work he has to remove their vehicle from the garage & use that space to work.

Taking our band out to do an open mike Friday night. I’ll report back and let you know how it goes. Haven’t played out in 8 years, should be interesting.
