My brother did the test and shared his results with me so I can assume the DNA ancestry would be the same. He came out roughly 51% German/ French and 41% British isles. Generally 95% was northwestern European. The only surprise was 3% Italian- as far as I know we had no ancesters from Italy. He had more Neanderthal DNA than 81% of the population. Like I said, I'd assume my results would be the same since I'm not adopted A DNA doesn't distribute evenly among offspring. It would be close, but not the exact same. Yeah true enough but I'm sure if I took the test I wouldn't be found to be 80% Mongolian! Now his health DNA scores could be drastically different from mine but I not inclined to get that test just now

my sister has researched daddy's side of the family. we're related to William Wallace. his brother is our direct ancestor. on momma's side of the family, we're related to the Standard Bearer of William the Conqueror. I'm not sure if I want to submit a sample or not. my past might haunt me. ha ha ha

My health test came back good. My cousin came up as my half sister... I was going bust my moms chops, but she already knew why. My mom is an identical twin and my aunts offspring is considered my 1/2 siblings and vice versa because they have the same DNA.

I know someone who wanted to name a sone William Wallace (First & middle names) + he had a last name starting with W so the kid would have the initials WWW, and could be called Willy Wally. Fortunately his wife talked him out of it.

My daughters boyfriend is of Korean descent and adopted as a baby in the USA. When he checked his DNA he found something like 99.9% Korean/ Japanese, which seems to be normal for that country. I guess it was a very closed society?
However he also found that he has a sister, or rather she found him. It wasn't necessarily a welcome finding for him and I'm not sure if he regrets having taken the test altogether

when I was there in Scotland in 1973, I went on a tour that promised to go by the Wallace Monument. well, it did go by the monument and that was it. the tour never went to the monument. I felt disheartened and disappointed. I sent home pictures of the monument that were taken closer than I had ever been.

I think the thing with the Ancestry site is that you have to be prepared for whatever you hear. I've related my experience to a few friends and have heard some stories of people who discovered very unexpected things within their family that might be better unknown. I was able to accept the fact that my daughters aren't biologically related to me, but I still love them. I know of at least one person who didn't have as happy an outcome in his family.
I guess it's "Don't ask questions that you don't the answers to".
On a slightly different topic, I'm told I have more Scotch than Irish in me. It's weird because I always thought of myself as coming from Irish roots. I don't attach a lot of significance to Ancestry's claim of tracing your heritage and regard it as more entertainment than scientific certainty....almost like reading your horoscope.

But I did touch the walls

I would like to think it wouldn't affect me if I found out one of my kids weren't mine, but I think it would nag on my mind a bit.
Oh and welcome back Ken

But I did touch the walls I wish I could have touched the walls. I only saw it from a distance. however, I did get to walk around Stirling Castle.
